

Ry is in the process of creating a movable solar power plant using a golf cart. He has a cart frame with wheels from a January auction. Stay tuned we will be updating through spring via newsletter. Lu has onions growing and just planted radishes under a hoop frame in the green house. Last week the greenhouse made it to 80 degrees for a couple of days but has been hovering around 55/60.
CLASS LISTINGS
Class listings are now available
on our website hookpotterypaper.com for all summer register early space is limited. Mary Uthuppuru will be teaching a 2 day clamshell box class and George Liebert is teaching watercolor in the woods. Hand papermaking courses will include an intensive in June or shorter courses through the summer.
CLAY STUDIO
There is a stencil fever in the studio. Jon is using colored clay slips to create images on plates and tiles. He is playing with more print methods in the clay studio this spring. In early March Jon will be showing sculpture at the Hot Springs Center for Art in Arkansas. Image on right is a page from a one of his current artists’ book entitled “Orbita”. Jon is currently teaching at the Krasl Art Center in St. Joe, MI and the South Bend Regional Art Museumin South Bend, IN.
PAPER STUDIO
Last two months paper studio has been a buzz – had a few visitors, Barbara Hashimoto, Chicago artist, utilizing consumer shredded waste making sheets. Dorothy Graden making new pulp images for new drawings(image on left). Alicia Bailey, Denver book artist, have collaborated on a new paper design for her upcoming artist book. (image center) and currently I am working on a paper for Tim Ely, book artist from Washington state. (image on right).
I will be showing this artists’ book about the decimation of butterfly habitat at Diane Kidd Gallery, Tifflin University in Ohio which is a exhibit on sustainability in March along with a couple other books. I am currently showing some of my animal prints at Michigan Thyme in New Buffalo, MI. I will be at Ox-Bow teaching papermaking studio in early June and an Art on the Meadow course in late June. In late August I will be teaching a pigment and papermaking workshop at the Morgan Conservatory in Cleveland, OH.
