011 serving vessel

6.5″w x 6.5″h
This vessel made from a white stoneware is wood fired with a oribe glaze on the upper section leaving the rest of the piece open for the wood ash and flame pattern of the kiln to leave it’s mark. The oribe glaze here turns an intense turquoise on one side which was facing the flame path in the kiln. This surface is the result of introducing a salt during the firing which changes the normal copper green to a variation of blue. The alchemy of this process keeps me coming back for more.
