Christien Meindertsma is a industrial designer with a textile emphasis from The Netherlands. She was selected by the Nature Conservancy to create a project from an Illinois prairie located about 2 hours west of Chicago. Plants and grasses were collected fall of 2010 dried and brought to Hook Pottery Paper with Christein in January 2011. Andrea and Christein made 50 differ plant fiber sheets of paper in 13 days. The papers each about 18" x 24" will be pages for a nine foot accordion style book that will be on display at the Field Museum in Chicago starting May 12. This was an awesome and intense project.
