5-day This is a short residency intended for an advanced ceramic artist who would like to explore wood firing and ash glazes. The artist would bring a number of bisque ware pieces to fill the 27 cu. ft. wood fired kiln. The bisque ware must be able to fire to cone 10. A suggested week itinerary would be as follows: Day 1: Glaze your work Day 2: Load the kiln and begin an over-night pre-heat. Day 3: The third day is all about firing the kiln Day 4: The fourth day the kiln is allowed to cool and you may wish to try a low temperature Native American Pit Firing. Day 5: On the final day we will un-load the kiln and examine the work.
Cost: The cost for the five-day residency is $1000. Supplies: The studio has select glazes, which you may use. You may bring any other glazes as long as they reach cone 10. Housing: Our residency room is under construction at this time. We have surrounding hotels and bed and breakfasts we can suggest. Food: The cost for meals is $100 for the five days.
8-day This residency is intended for an advanced ceramic artist who would like to explore wood firing, once fired green ware, ash glazes, shinos and slips. The artist could bring a number of bisque ware pieces as well as make work in the studio to fill the 27 cu. ft. wood fired kiln. The bisque ware must be able to fire to cone 10. A suggested week itinerary would be as follows: Day 1& 2: Make work. Day 3: Load bisque Day 4: Finish green work. Day 5: Glaze and load the kiln and begin an over-night pre-heat. Day 6: Firing the kiln Day 7: The kiln is allowed to cool and you may wish to try a low temperature Native American Pit Firing. Day 8: On the final day we will un-load the kiln.
Cost: The cost for the eight-day residency is $1500. Supplies: The studio has select glazes, which you may use. You may bring any other glazes as long as they reach cone 10. There will be 50 lbs. of Laguna B-mix included. Housing: Our residency room is under construction at this time. We have surrounding hotels and bed and breakfasts we can suggest. Food: The cost for meals is $150 for the eight days.
